Big Poker Dogs Breed: it Just Got CEREUS
December 5th, 2008
Two of the top tier pokern sites in the world have decided that the time was right to merge. Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet have teamed up under the new moniker CEREUS (pronounced “serious”) with the slogan “The Future of Poker is Cereus.”
The full merger had little effect on either of the sites, the only thing either site asked is that the players refrained from making any transactions for 4 hours while the IT teams raced to get the servers integrated.
After the recent uproar about cheating online poker hit the news, both Absolute and Ultimate bet realized something needed to be done. The new site offers increased security, which in turn they hope will generate more trust and confidence in the sites and continue to draw more poker players.
“We are dedicated to providing the ultimate online experience, and with CEREUS we offer real value for every dollar our players put on the table, and our unwavering commitment to security and fair play as the foundation of the new network,” said Peter Leggit, chief officer of operations.
The most interesting part of this combination is that the players are not being asked to log into a new site. The original domain names will remain intact and the players will be able to continue to use the sites as they always have. The only difference is what’s going on behind the scenes.
After 12 months of rigorous testing, CEREUS backed poker sites are expected to become the new industry standard in online betting security. Perhaps the model will be adopted by the other major players in the industry, but that, as always, is something only time will tell.
