First Class Snowboarding Conditions throughout Europe

February 16th, 2009

There has been approximately 2m snowfall in the last 7 days. The snowfall was so prolonged that chairlifts were stopped, the funicular has been finishing at Chamonix ski resort and not going to Le Praz. Several roads have been closed and avalanche warnings released.

Compare this to a few winters past, when we experienced the unbelievably hot Feb weather conditions, earth appearing on pistes, and reports that global warming meant the conclusion of the ski industry in Europe. Highlighting this the report from 2005 admonished that global warming would make snowboarding far too dear for a lot of skiers, with one third of ski fields becoming insolvent and the melting of glaciers. Glaciologists assert that it is inconceivable to assign these annual variations in the weather to the outcomes of climate change.

So we may have the biggest downturn in almost 25 yrs, and the pound has dropped to more lows compared to the euro, but the snow is great, and the last bookings highlight that boarders are enthusiastic to take of advantage of the excellent snow conditions. It is certainly the finest in eight winters, and many are stating that it’s the finest ski snowboarding conditions in 10 winters.

Nonetheless recollect that this amount of snow means high avalanches risks.
